Pieter Laurens Mol has created editioned pieces on a continuous basis since the beginning of his artistic practice in the late 60’s.
Somehow a survey of the editions contains in concentrated form well nigh his complete body of work.
"The variety of subjects, the use of all sorts of material and the practising of different artistic disciplines side by side, so characteristic of Mol, also typify the editions. They are, however, not derivatives of or spin-offs from the rest of his work but are autonomous, fully-fledged works of art ’originated from a blank starting-point’. In other words, merely during the process of developing his ideas, the decision is made whether or not to produce a piece in more copies." (1)
A collection of Mol’s editions until 2002 was published under the title Hook, Line and Sinker in 2002 by CBK Centrum Beeldende Kunst, Dordrecht (NL).
